origins story

This cacao comes from the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, Colombia, a special place home to the world’s tallest coastal and glacial mountain with all the Earth’s biomes on it. This ancestral cacao is grown by the Arhuacos indigenous community. It is the same cacao that their ancestors, the Tayrona, used to drink. The Arhuacos live in harmony with the land, maintain their traditions with respect to Mother Nature, and work to reforest the sacred Sierra Nevada. Your purchase helps them to protect their land and culture. This sipping chocolate is made with the Arhuacos 68% chocolate, something we do not usually offer.
